Trouble Shooting

Symptom Possible causes Solution
All channels in a module go to zero high voltage is getting to at least one channel on that module Check valves for shorts

turn off all stamp boxes. Turn half back on to determine which half is causing the problem.

Note that it can take a minute for the module to recover or to fail again when the high voltage is reapplied

All channels in a module go out of range lack of grounding for power supply Verify that the ground cable from the data acquisition cables is attached to the power supply box.
Unresponsive sensor voltage range is set too high Set voltage range to match Sensor output
Sensor output out of range Voltage range is set to low Set voltage range to match Sensor output
Sensor is shorted If sensor electronics got wet, allow it to dry
Sensors using the same power supply get noisy and go out of range intermittently Power supply is failing Replace power supply

Module 2 is connected to bottom row of ports in HO 150

Module 4 is connected to ports in HO 160

Noisy - Several of the data acquisition channels of the data acquisition board were found to be noisy when attached to capacitance-based wave gages. It is possible that the noise was caused by the cable connecting the SCXI 1000 mainframe to the black Ethernet breakout box.
